Are you a pitch pipe collector? I mean, if you’re anything like me, you have five or six of the “classic” pipes lying around.

Most of the pitches on every pipe work fine. But one pitch on each pipe – most likely the Bb or Eb – is mute now. Hence the need the buy yet another. I don’t actually throw the old pipe away – it merely joins the other “dead” pipes on my closet shelf.

But recently someone asked me about something I never considered before.

“What if I don’t read music? How do I know what pitch to blow?”

It doesn’t help to look at the sheet music – if you don’t read music, you certainly can’t figure out the pitch from the key signature.

So I developed the Key Sig Pitch Pipe sticker. You don’t have to read music to know what pitch to blow. It’s easy as 1-2-3.

1. Just look at the music key signature – that’s the thing at the beginning of the song with the G-clef and the sharps or flats next to it.

2. Then just find the signature on the Key Sig Pitch Pipe sticker that looks like the one on the music.

3. Blow the corresponding pitch and you’re in business!
